  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a 9-inch square baking dish.
  2. Peel and slice the apples, and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
  4. Add the cold butter pieces to the dry ingredients, and use a pastry blender or your fingers to mix the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Spread the crumb mixture over the sliced apples, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
  6. Bake the apple crisp in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

  8. Serve the apple crisp warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top, if desired.
